on 39 acres of beachfront just 8 miles up the coast from downtown Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, this resort impresses guests with a wealth of on-site activities, excellent service, and elegant design.
Decorated in neutral tones of brown, white, blue and mocha, the 174 rooms and suites are equipped with marble bathrooms, seating areas, Nespresso machines and terraces with desert or beach views. Outside the accommodation, tourists can relax at the spa, take a dip in the pool, or relax on the beach.
Some visitors note that the sand can get crowded because this beach is for the public. Montage Los Cabos also offers a variety of recreational opportunities including snorkeling, jet skiing, horseback riding, tennis and swimming with dolphins. When it’s time to eat, the property has two restaurants, Mezcal and Marea, as well as a Talay Thai restaurant and a market.

2. Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection
Like other Auberge hotels, Esperanza offers luxurious facilities such as yoga classes, an infinity waterfront pool and a sculpture garden. If you crave rest and relaxation, head to the spa for a refreshing massage.
While a spa treatment will cost a fortune, recent visitors say it’s worth the money. Once you’ve relaxed, try some mouth-watering dishes at Cocina del Mar, which offers fresh seafood prepared according to cooking styles and traditions from across North, Central and South America.
Or, for a more casual meal, take a seat at one of the other on-site restaurants – La Palapa, Las Estrellas, and La Terraza Americana. Then retreat to your spacious casita, suite or villa.
Each has a private terrace, abundant toiletries, a flat-screen TV and (of course) a personal concierge service. You can find Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on the Sea of Cortez side.
3. Rosewood Mayakoba
Architecture and design Rosewood Mayakoba immerses guests in the beauty of the Riviera Maya. Not only is it flanked by the region’s famous crystal-clear sandy beaches and dense forests, the resort is also built from local materials such as Yucatan limestone and local wood.
Visitors especially appreciate the private terraces and heated plunge pools installed in each of the property’s 129 suites. And the welcome tequila, daily refilled fruit bowl and personalized butler show above average hospitality.
The culinary offerings at Rosewood Mayakoba’s seven restaurants and bars was another point that won praise from the youngest guests. And despite the price tag, visitors say the signature treatment at Sense, A Rosewood Spa is well worth the pampering.
Once you’re relaxed, perfect your swing at the nearby El Camaleón golf course or enjoy the area on a cycling or snorkeling adventure. You can find this rosewood outpost north of downtown Playa del Carmen, Mexico at the Mayakoba resort complex.
4. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort
This isolated rosewood retreat rewards guests with extras such as butlers, BVLGARI bath products and daily fresh fruit. Each standard junior suite offers a welcome gift of tequila, a bathroom with separate shower and tub, a clay fireplace and a private terrace with a telescope and garden or ocean views.
But the stunning views of Las Ventanas al Paraíso are only part of its appeal. Travelers agree that this Los Cabos retreat is guaranteed to spark romance. In fact, Las Ventanas al Paraíso has an entire department dedicated to guests in love, with specialists who can arrange everything from private salsa lessons to private spa treatments for couples.
If you want more activity, the concierge staff can arrange tee times at the four nearby golf courses. Recent guests highly recommend swinging at Cabo Real Golf Club, Robert Trent Jones II championship course (about 1.6 km from property). And for food, you can visit one of the five on-site restaurants and bars.
5. One & Only Palmilla
Flanked by secluded sandy beaches, aquamarine waters and the pristine fairways of the Los Cabos corridor, One&Only Palmilla offers a long list of high-end amenities.
You can rejuvenate with a deep-tissue massage at the spa before relaxing in your room, which features a flat-screen TV, minibar, Lady Primrose toiletries and a balcony or patio overlooking the Sea of Cortez or the Pacific Ocean.
If you’re looking for more activity, pack your gear and tee off at the resort’s 27-hole golf course. You can also visit the concierge to book diving, snorkeling or deep sea fishing trips.
When you’re hungry, head to SEARED, the famous on-site restaurant created by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. While some previous diners complained about the menu’s exorbitant prices, others said the steakhouse fare was worth the hefty price tag.
In addition, the resort offers three other restaurants to choose from, serving everything from traditional ceviches to innovative sushi dishes.
